This is where subjectivity comes into place: you had some expectancies about your relocation process and Chris probably had other expectancies that were met. Yours weren't that is why you and him have different opinion on the relocation company.

I am thinking of replacing mine which has just a small crack on the corner but I have a question on how you repaired yours. Looking at the teardown from iFixit, it looks like they left the digitizer attached to the lighter gray front frame. Is that glued on or how easy is it to detach/reattach? The parts I see for sale do not include the light gray frame. Also does the replacement remain securely fastened or might I have problems with it "ungluing" later?

I agree with you. Crown Singapore sucks. They just look competent but actually they are just acting. All paperworks were pushed to me for signing without any explanation. All blanks are already prefilled before they even arrived, including the number of cartons unpacked. LOL. I was stupid to sign those signs without reading them thoroughly. And now they use those form against me. I would never use Crown ever! They are just a bunch of blood suckers

It's industry standard to offer you up to 6 days free store (in case you can only accept delivery on a single day). the issue is that Crown promised you a six week door to door time on the contract and they should honor that. Getting delivery to a self store unit may seem like a clever solution but is a bad idea:

A) Crown sold you a door to door service, now the self store unit (not your home) will become your second "door".
B) You will need to pay for another whole move later on to your main home
C) Crown care insurance will lapse while the goods are in self store, any damage (even if caused in Beijing) caused at any stage will not be able to claimed for.
D) you and your wife (not Crown who have been paid to unpack) is likely going to have to unpack, re-assemble 18 cubic metres of "junk" and then hire a skip to dispose of enough cardboard to fill a small village.

The best idea would be to work with Crown and get them to transfer your goods to their store while goods "in transit" and then fullfill their comitment of a door to door move, call the GM and point out it's their Beijing offices mistake for deliering to quickly and he can direct the storage invoice to them.

Great post!.. I have owned a similarly old bike now for 10 years in Beijing and it was actually manufactured in 1994 and has black plates that have 3 zeros in front!!. Needless to say the registration is not current (some laowai in Legend Garden in the mid 90's about 3 owners before!!) and I just use the bike these days to do errands out in the countryside. I am just curious if you had heard any mention of the 12 year rule in regards to the Changjiang 750. i.e. is my bike actually sale-able? or could it be made legal?

Hopefully i will have the chance once or twice to ride with that bike :-) How did you prepare for that, did you look up the steps before online or did you managed everything on the rung, i guess you speaking abilities and inouts hanzi knowledge came quite handy ....
